I was listening to Good Life by Kanye West ft. T-Pain this morning as my morning musical inspiration and realized that I wasn’t just listening to the song in leisure, but I was dissecting the drum pattern and really analyzing the arrangement on the record.
I do this a lot when I am listening to music and I found that I apply some of the same elements to my music. I am a student of not only the music business, but of music itself. It has been times where I pull up the hottest song out at the time and listen to those elements like the way the the drum pattern is constructed or just the over all “pulse” of the song to attempt to capture that same energy.
I picked up this habit from a Grammy award winning producer. We would be in the studio and the first thing he would do is go to the DJ turntables and play some vinyl. He wouldn’t always sample the song, but he would capture the “pulse” of the record; the energy and then start producing a new record based on that “pulse.”
I thought that sharing this would hopefully inspire you to seek out those same “pulses” and energies and maybe capture them in your music. You might be surprised at what you come up with.

I have been racking my brain about how to connect to my fans and friends on a more personal level other than FaceBook or Twitter. I really feel like they don’t get the full advantage of my music online nor do they get to connect to me and all the happenings. It is so hard to update my FaceBook status or tweet when I am bungee jumping LOL. So, once again I am giving this blogging thing a try.
Don’t change the channel yet. I will be talking about things that are going on directly with me, but I will also addressing issues in and around the world as well as answering questions and sharing my latest and greatest creations with you.
I always find it extremely hard express m exact thoughts on FaceBook and Twitter due to the character limits. Here, I will be “letting it all hang out.”
Someone said I dont’ take enough pictures…there will be more pictures!
Someone said I don’t share enough music…there will be more music!
Someone said I ignore their questions…I will be answering questions!
Not only that, I will be sharing some of the hot music I come across on Feature Friday’s. I will be posting music from known as well as unknown artists music that I have come across during the week.
I entitled the blog Private Thoughts to not only coincide with my impending album, but also because this is the place where I will be sharing my most private thoughts.
